This was a thoroughly enjoyable concert. There’s something about Vivaldi performed live. It reminds me that his (instrumental) music was meant to be performed.

Just finished listening to this, what a great concert. Some concertos that I haven't heard before, including RV.428, Op.10`3 (Il Gardellino - The Goldfinch), in D major, which I think I enjoyed the most. And I've discovered another great early music band, Il Pomo d'Oro.

Many thanks for flagging this concert up doversoul!

Annoying when that happens, isn't it? But I doubt if the budget box carries all the notes that your original issues do.

From what I read, it's the original CDs in their jewel cases, replete with booklets, housed in a card sleeve/box. Just ordered a set.

That box has been winking at me all week. So far I've resisted.

Remastered in Hi-Res with a 980 page essay, free season ticket to the Huddersfield Festival and a £2,000 Mothecare/Early Learning Centre voucher. Life's a bitch sometimes.

You got in ahead of me again Bryn!!

The cheapest set left was a second hand copy for £17.74 from the US. Rather than risk the customs/import levy on extra-EU items over £15, I opted for the full price Amazon-proper set at £23.24. Brand new and still very good value. Also I had a few other items in my basket that I needed to get up to £20 for free delivery on all. Not a good a deal as you got though, I imagine.

Do let us know what you think of the Vivaldi set, Beefy...afraid I got tempted elsewhere by the Barthold Kuijken set of French flute music.

Collected my set from the local sorting office today. The booklet front cover illustration for the Four Seasons CD is sonewhat prosaic, but those for the other five CDs are pretty hairy.

Thanks Bryn...as you may have seen on another thread, I threw caution to the wind and bought all three boxes of the Naive Vivaldi concertos. Where they are going to go on my already crowded shelves, I just don't know...

My set arrived last Friday. I'm reserving judgement for the moment, but that might be the finest Four Seasons around - it's certainly the most interesting, IMV.
