    EMS Marc'Antonio Ingegneri 2/6/2024 (R)

A repeat of the Jan 2023 Marc'Antonio Ingegneri EMS.

    Marc'Antonio Ingegneri
    The Early Music Show

Hannah French chats to Gareth Wilson, director of Chapel Music at Girton College, Cambridge, about the composer Marc'Antonio Ingegneri - Monteverdi's teacher - whose music he has recorded with Girton College Choir.
On Twitter, HF posted a photo of Gareth Wilson & Girton College Choir.

NB Ardcarp's 2023 post is here.

This is a repeat, so, presumably, the Early Music News will be a year & a half out-of-date...
Here's what Mark Seow expounded upon ~49mins in:
      • 1630's gig economy life in Canterbury, cornet player William Mather
      • Vincente Lusitano - Catholic & Protestant music, African roots. Just in time for the New Year.
      • Scott Ross - Harpsichord Rebel, next weekend's Sunday feature.
Update: No Early Music News - snip Did they pop an extra track in?

I missed the original broadcast so pleased to hear this - and minus Mr Meow, hurrah. Even better.

I have just gone to download this on Sounds. Apparently I have already listened to it...

... I see from posts passim that is indeed the case. From comments above it appears that I may be rewarded by a re-listen - especially as no mews is good news.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

So now we know where the extra track came from... Please replace even more EM News with music
I think it's track #16, "Antoni confessor magne", on this new CD.

Well, @GirtonChoir & @nota1cambiata have Vol IV of their Ingegneri odyssey out now, but hear how it all began in today’s @BBCRadio3 Early Music Show!
It’s a repeat, but the eagle eared among you may spot a track from this latest album sneaked in… 5pm, enjoy!
