    Ems 7.4.24

This programme looks enticing - in its new slot in the schedule.

I note there is no reference in the blurb to that damned ‘news’ intrusion. I haven’t listened to EMS for a few weeks…

… dare one hope it’s been junked along with other items in the R3 line-up?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I heard parts & enjoyed it. Good to have longer / fewer pieces (as in the older EMS days.)

Happy to do an edited highlights of EMS News - just for you. You wouldn't want to miss out

      Too kind.

      No, literally: far too kind!

Does this mean the intrusion persists… ?

I don't think EMS news intruded in this episode (I've listened to 40mins and scanned the rest). But, I have a horrible feeling it'll be back.

I had the remote at the ready, and was on edge from about 5- 40 onwards, but no intrusion. Be nice to think that it has been ditched, but I'm not holding my breath.
A good programme I thought, certainly some interesting ideas and, as AuntD says, longer pieces of music. The time change is going to take some getting used to. OK in winter, but as the days lengthen Sunday afternoons are often gardening time, when clock-watching doesn't apply.

I’m pretty sure there was no news section as well.

It sort of explains why people complain when they don't like something but say nothing when they approve. It's not noticeable when things are 'as they should be'. "I'm so glad it's Hannah French presenting and not Zoe Ball who knows NOTHING about Early Music. Well done and thank you, BBC!"
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

You're right, well done and thank you, BBC! and especially Hannah French, Les Pratt & Ensemble Augelletti.

oddoneout is right - the new time will take me a while to get used to. As well as the garden, it clashes with tea / evening meal prep. & the dog's dinner (more importantly).

Agreed re: EMS (although I haven't yet listened to this episode) I take on board comments earlier on in this thread and agree Hannah French is an excellent presenter.

Fair dos FF, but does anyone from the BBC actually read these fora?

When we subscribed to Google Analytics (which we no longer do) we could see how many BBC computers visited the forum. The visits were many and regular at one point, though when FoR3 gave up campaigning there was nothing to see here. But lately, who knows? I did have a suspicion that a diktat might have gone out decreeing that people should NOT visit the site from BBC computers. I don't remember their IP addresses, but I don't think I've spotted any lately.

I can assure you FF that no one in the BBC would give a monkeys about BBC staff accessing or even posting on this forum .
The only thing that’s explicitly banned is posting on social media fora about BBC business or programmes anonymously.

I agree with the notion of balancing negative and positive comment and do so when I can in daily life but ever since I stopped receiving any response whatsoever from the BBC(ie not even an auto-reply) to any of my emails, whether they were questions, praise, or complaint, I don't bother now.

In any case if BBC staff want to read this site it's easy enough to do it on a phone.

The point about banning them from using BBC computers (if indeed that happened at all) would be that we would know many BBC people accessed the forum each day and read what was being said about Radio 3. I wasn't suggesting the BBC thought they could stop employees from looking. But they could stop us finding out about it and being secretly quite pleased!

Honestly FF they have so many other things to worry about than getting an obscure pleasure from denying the forum moderators the ability to work out who’s watching.
if anything forums like that this are quite useful for programme makers as its honest feedback from the non green ink and capitals brigade.
