I recall this as a very interesting programme - even more so if one isn't particularly at home in renaissance polyphony (like myself at that time)

If you are being serious and not making the point I am making (the mess of the website), the programme is not accessible because it is / was last week from 03/10/2009.

All that besides, I am very much looking forward to hearing the programme.

So if it is a repeat, then it appears from and then simply disappears back into oblivion?
Is there no radio archive I can access to retrieve it?

If you mean the York Festival programme by ‘it’, it should not appear on the website as last week’s programme on today’s schedule. Sorry about this clumsy sentence, but what I am getting at is that the information in More Episodes should be updated, and not just copied and pasted from the archive without editing as if nobody cared.

As for accessing the YEMF programme, I don’t suppose we can expect to be able to access a programme broadcast six years ago. Last week, we had Barbara Strozzi.

While we are here, from last week’s EMS page, we are supposed to have Performer Profile: Nigel Rogers today

but this ‘next week’ is 22 March. So today, we are living a non-existing day according the R3’s website. How very exciting! (Sorry, DracoM, for going on about it but this complete lack of care really bothers me).

Archive Music programmes aren't generally available to the public - as I understand it, royalty fees have to be renegotiated when a Music programme is repeated after a certain period from its original broadcast. Music programmes are available on the i-Player for the length of time the Musicians agree as part of their contract with the BBC; thereafter, the Beeb has to make a new contract - programmes made before the i-Player facility existed don't get i-Player availability now if they are repeated.

It's different for speech programmes, which need no such renegotiation; so every In Our Time is available all the time. Programmes with a mixture of speech and Music might appear on the permanently available archive, but often with the Music excerpts removed.

Crikey, I didn't realise it was that chaotic! I totally see your frustration and even mystification. I share it - belatedly!
