Philippe Jaroussky Live at Wigmore Hall: Monday Lunchtime Concert

    8 December 1.00pm

The acclaimed countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and his baroque group Ensemble Artaserse perform an all-Vivaldi programme live at Wigmore Hall in London.

Concerto for strings in C minor RV120
    Stabat Mater RV621
Concerto for strings in D RV123
    Longe mala, umbrae, terrores RV629.

[ed.] I hope the presenter will tell us something about the music and not how exceptional and brilliant etc. the performers are.

Well, this was certainly a concert worth waiting for. No such gimmick as crossover or improvisation. Just straightforward Vivaldi. And splendidly performed it was, especially Longe mala, umbrae, terrors. A rare event in many ways.

As for the presentation. Honestly, we were told about the project and the ensemble about four times but hardly anything about the music. Surely, you could do better S M-P?
