OAE and its choir at Spitalfields

Friday's Live in Concert was an interesting programme of Schutz, Praetorius and Rosemuller. Worth a listen:

The OAE at the Spitalfields Festival, with works by Schutz, Rosenmuller and Praetorius.

Thank you for the reminder. I’ve just listened to the programme and enjoyed it, especially Rosenmüller’s sonatas. In the choir works, I found the soprano solo somewhat too distinct but it wasn’t a problem enough to spoil the concert.

But I do not like this at all.
…Schütz, two of 17th-century Germany's most significant musical personalities. In this concert music resounds from all corners of Christ Church Spitalfields in expressive, overlapping multi-choir harmonies.

Musical personalities? What’s wrong with 'composers'?, And ‘music resounds from all corners … expressive, overlapping multi-choir harmonies’? This is a written version of gushing.

Luckily, I didn't read that! As far as the choir of the OAE is concerned, it is I gather something of an ad hoc group comprising many of the usual voices in the London circuit...all very experienced and expert of course.
