Arias for Farinelli R3 Live in Concert

I am just catching up with this and think it deserves its own thread. Don’t miss it.

Yes, and it hit all the right spots. The "Tribute to Farinelli" with mezzo Ann Hallenberg has gone straight into my archive. This review from a 2011 performance in Paris says it all:

And an interview with Ann Hallenberg from the same date on youtube: http://youtu.be/DDkUpqcFMVk

You may also enjoy this concert performance. Ann Hallenberg is just spectacular.

    Ann Hallenberg: Ariodante
    Roberta Mameli: Ginevra
    Varduhi Abrahanyan: Polinesso
    Ana Quintans: Dalinda

Many thanks for the Ariodante notice. From the 2011 George Enescu Festival. Just watched the first 13 mins, or so, and had to drag myself away, saving it up for Friday viewing. Did you notice Dmitry Sinkovsky on lead violin? (Some super-charged Vivladi: http://youtu.be/JR0xIv6ECiI )

One aria we didn't hear her sing on Monaday. Written by Veracini for Farinelli, it requires the lungs of a horse: http://youtu.be/Z7zgZZ3DXm0

Another favourite Ann Hallenberg moment is her singing "Quanto magis generosa" accompanied by the rarely heard viola d'amore. Starts @ 28:36 : http://youtu.be/KGpPUDu_ME4

Ah! Another Juditha. Thank you, pegleg. Perfect for Friday night.

I enjoyed this Juditha very much.

        Juditha: Manuela Custer, mezzosoprano
        Holofernes: Mary-Ellen Nesi, mezzosoprano
        Vagaus: Karina Gauvin, soprano
        Abra: Marina Comparato, mezzosoprano
        Ozias: Romina Basso, mezzosoprano
Venice Baroque Orchestra & Nationaal Jeugdkoor
        Conducted by Andrea Marcon

As for Ann Hallenberg: she is Ottavia in this Poppea with Max Emmanuel Cencic’s Nerone and conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm. The reviewer in the recent BaL didn’t think very highly of the production but Ottavia is definitely worth a watch.

Thanks for the additional links. You are duly elected as my entertainments officer. Ann Hallenberg as Ariodante was - wow! The whole concert was excellent. It's such a pity she was not chosen for the Curtis "full-monty" Ariodante 3CD recording on Virgin. (contracts etc I suppose).

Just to make up for that, here are two gems form her "Hidden Handel" CD : http://youtu.be/2pTIhrd6Ejo http://youtu.be/b0Pl8VladtM

You can sample all the tracks at Presto, and it's just gone straight to the top of my to-buy list. And I can't resist this duet from Giulio Cesare: http://youtu.be/kEW0V9RhEZA
