So that's it? Just five concerts, or six if you are prepared to listen to Rattle's Passion, which I'm not. Very thin gruel indeed. Shocking really, but hardly unexpected.
not an early music prom as such but a Rameau Indes galantes suite is the first item of Prom 39 (15 August)
and CPE's 'Hamburg' symphony is the first item of Saturday Matinee 2 (9 August)
[and there is some Mozart here and there - when does 'Early Music' end ? ]
And I am glad to see that at least Rameau is being given a good tribute with Les Arts Florissants and William Christie doing the grand motets. Wish I could be there for that one.

I still feel I'm being feed crumbs. The Lapland Chamber Orchestra playing CPE Bach is an unknown quantity. At just 8 mins, you'll either wish for more, or be glad it's over. I doubt the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will adopt Baroque instruments and pitch to Play Rameau, it just seems like an afterthought.
I don't know who is writing the strap lines for the Proms concerts on the the BBC website, but we are getting into estate agent speak. This 8 mins of CPE Bach is described as:
"the anniversary celebrations of C. P. E. Bach continue with the spiky, brooding textures of his Symphony in B minor."
Celebrations? Just one full concert and a bit hardly make for a celebration.
Yes, and it hit all the right spots. The "Tribute to Farinelli" with mezzo Ann Hallenberg has gone straight into my archive. This review from a 2011 performance in Paris says it all:
