    At your service

I haven't listened this afternoon, but even without that I would recommend spending some time to listen to Bertali, because -though in a relatively inert surroundings at that time and hence not really influential- he is an interesting composer.

Unfortunately the best part of his output has gone lost.

He was very able able to use all the musical sources available to him to great effect, replacing recitatives as in Monteverdi's operas by mere ariosos, using pianossimos at unexpected places, having arias without long brilliantly to be song cadenzas.

A composer in the transition from high and late renaissance (especially his masses) straight to early baroque (his operas and here especially the chamber music, most for strings with basso continuo, including a solo-violin sonata and -wait for it- a guitar sonata)

Now that life is back to normal, I have been listening to these concerts again. Great music and excellent presentations. Do listen again or catch up.

The works which have survived set against the list of works which at one time were present in the imperial archives(including the Archduke Rudolph one, frequently visited by Beethoven in preparation of and during the composition of the Missa solemnis) plus the known losses following destruction during the last months of the second world war
Bertali's works were not considered to be important enough to be evacuated to e.g. Krakow (as many Beethoven and Mozart scores were - and now in Polish hands though strictly legally speaking still in possession of the Berlin Staatsbibliothek /Archiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz)

I suppose the mass of lost work is compelling evidence for your assertion.

I enjoyed this concert very much...nice to hear a CPE Bach symphony I didn't know. But honestly, not one scrap of information about the programme's contents on the website, it's just not good enough.

                  L'Arpeggiata: 17 January and more

L'Arpeggiata, under their founder-director Christina Pluhar, perform Baroque music from Vienna by Antonio Bertali and Giovanni Felice Sances, in a concert recorded at the 2014 Utrecht Early Music Festival
L'Arpeggiata in Baroque music from Vienna by Antonio Bertali and Giovanni Felice Sances.

with the playlist, with no fussy bits. Has somebody heard us, I wonder?

Incidentally, here is the entire concert if you are interested (just under 2 hours).

…and here is the excellent Bertali concert from the same festival which was broadcast a few weeks ago on this programme (this is part I).

Note: all three concerts have the same violinist, Veronika Skuplik who appears in the same dress in all three performances. Clearly, the ‘costume’ on the stage has no importance to her. Very refreshing.

Sorry, me again. Just bumping this up. It’s very good to see/hear that L'Arpeggiata has got their sense back (no more improvisation and crossover) and doing what they do so well.

FYI (re: the link in the previous post)
Haru Kitamura improvises on the organ while the group changes the formation between the music.

                    L'Arpeggiata:
Raquel Andueza, Anna Reinhold - sopraan / soprano
                    Benedetta Mazzucato - mezzosopraan / mezzo-soprano
Angelica Monje Torres - alt / alto
                    Vincenzo Capezzuto - altus
Cyril Auvity, Emiliano Gonzales Toro - tenor
                    Fulvio Bettini - bariton
John Taylor Ward - bas / bass
João Fernandes - bas / bass

Akademie für alte Musik Berlin: 31 January

Oboe concertos by Vivaldi and Marcello, played by Xenia Löffler and Akademie für alte Musik Berlin, recorded at Spain's Torroella de Montgrí Music Festival […]

amd we are told (by whom indeed…?)

This crack German ensemble brings a dash of Venetian sunshine to the Costa Brava as Berlin's Akademie für alte Musik performs concertos by Antonio Vivaldi and Alessandro Marcello.

A wonderful concert, I thought, ds. Quite superb playing especially from the oboist Xenia Löffler.

If a comment (other than the information) is to be published on the schedule page, this is how it should be.

Yes, it was an excellent concert. Despite the fact that the programme was edited, it somehow managed to keep the sense of a live performance. Baroque oboe at its best.

I would hardly think that the Costa Brava, of all places, would be in need of "a dash of Venetian sunshine"! Who on earth is responsible for these fatuous blurbs?

Missing from the playlist, the composer of the first work is (I think) Carlo Tessarini.

I do wish they pay more attention to what they are supposed to be doing instead of pretending to be a copywriter.
