Quite exciting Telemann’s cantata sung in a lovely, not-much-wobble soprano voice. It is interesting to compare this to Elizabeth Watt’s singing on Sunday’s concert (that was a very good concert for many other reasons).

Adolf Hasse, Leonardo Leo and more: 22 November
Music by Vivaldi, Handel, Johann Adolf Hasse and Leonardo Leo performed by Arte dei Suonatori and soprano Maria Keohane at the 2014 Danish Midsummer Baroque Festival in Copenhagen.
Maria Keohane was wonderful in the Telemann’s cantata two weeks ago. This should be good too.

Very glad to hear that you enjoyed this concert. To some, (or a lot of) people the music from this era is under-developed and unsophisticated but I like the sense of freedom it creates. Bertali is, I think, mostly known by his instrumental works but his vocal works seems to be performed more often recently.
This is an ear worth exploring both in Germany and Italy.
I’m sure Roehre will be able to enlighten us.
[ed.] you really can’t go wrong with Maria Cristina Kiehr (the soprano but not listed on the programme)Last edited by doversoul1; 03-01-15, 20:27.
