Quite exciting Telemann’s cantata sung in a lovely, not-much-wobble soprano voice. It is interesting to compare this to Elizabeth Watt’s singing on Sunday’s concert (that was a very good concert for many other reasons).
Concerto Copenhagen under Lars Ulrik Mortensen performs music by Rameau and Telemann.

Highlights from a concert recorded earlier this year in Antwerp.

Maria Keohane was wonderful in the Telemann’s cantata two weeks ago. This should be good too.

Thanks for this "heads-up", doversoul. I'd not heard of Bertali but was delighted to hear some of his richly-scored, expressive works. What brilliant use of cornets and trombones! Ideas galore and the use of extreme contrasts. Not a dull bar in sight and Bertali's cadences are elongated and wondrous. I look forward to hearing more from his pen. The performances sounded authoritative and were full of confidence. An excellent concert.

Very glad to hear that you enjoyed this concert. To some, (or a lot of) people the music from this era is under-developed and unsophisticated but I like the sense of freedom it creates. Bertali is, I think, mostly known by his instrumental works but his vocal works seems to be performed more often recently.

This is an ear worth exploring both in Germany and Italy.

I’m sure Roehre will be able to enlighten us.

[ed.] you really can’t go wrong with Maria Cristina Kiehr (the soprano but not listed on the programme)
