I am looking forward to this programme on Sunday on the great film designer Ken Adam:
Although he is probably best known for the designs for several Bond films and Dr Strangelove, I also liked his work on Barry Lyndon, The Madness of King George and Taking Sides, the film about Furtwängler's denazification process. He seems to have played down the influence of German expressionist films on his work, claiming he only saw them well after the war when he was in London. He's undoubtedly one of those key figures among the wave of emigres from Nazi persecution who did so much to influence our post-war culture.
