London Road was a real theatre-going highlight for me, strikingly original and brilliantly staged and performed .... and I had to be persuaded to go along by better half, thinking that it would not be for me. We have been to the National many times over the years. My first South Bank show was the boisterous production of Tambulaine the Great with Albert Finney. Watching the chronological progress on TV we were struck by a middle period where we hadn't seen that much - our child-rearing years.
