    Children's Book about a rock-star cat...?

Does anyone recall - even better, still own? - an illustrated children's book about a cat who dies? A day or two later the children hear music from the garden and find loads of cats holding a wake in the garden for their dead friend, who (unknown, of course, to the humans) had been a rock star at night, playing guitar.

It seems to be out of print, and in order to find a second-hand copy, I'm in need of any or all of author, title, ISBN.

    Many thanks for any help.

kb (on behalf of his cats Michou and Fifi... and grandson Jonas)

Ah no, Flossie, a printing press was involved in its production...

It was current when my children were young... so late seventies, early eighties maybe.

      Many thanks.

KB - I think the book you are looking for is called "Fred", by Posy Simmonds, a Red Fox Picture Book.

I thought for a few seconds we were going to get stories about buskers http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23117382. Cats seem to be flavour of the day.

Indeed, the young author was interviewed, along with cat, on the Andrew Marr Show this morning. A very well-behaved cat, in a gingerly sort of way.

EA, Rob - thanks so much for the information!

Eight copies (!) available at 1p on Amazon - so that's Christmas sorted, then.
