Ah yes. Photo from years ago I think - very eye catching. Those years in "Parliament" seem to have taken their toll.

        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Well...that at least is something to help with the young and present Montalbano Saturday evening withdrawal symptoms.

Totally Agree! I've been spoilt watching the young Buck - never was really into the older one anyway. Just viewed the first two in Series 3 back-to -back with my early morning tea, all very satisfactory, and is it just me or is Sidse Babett Knudsen really sexy when she speaks in English

              Hmm.

Well, I'm afraid I found that first double epi pretty predictable, almost on the stopwatch: tired exec home - count five slowly and bang on cue baby cries - yeah, right. Young pushing new exec in scarf and thirty seconds and one drink in bar later into Katrine's bed despite being an enemy = gosh the dialectic of sexual politics!? Oh dear. And the tiresome Bent like a poorly acted schoolboy saying 'please let me come back'. Oh dear. OK, a lot to be re-established for newcomers, but I'm hoping that next Saturday, things move on a tad quicker. And yes, agree Spiral, The Bridge and The Killing have this beaten into a cocked hat.

Bust up between Katrine and Mum good. Nice to have a real baby being a real baby too.

                Agreed on all points, Mobson

I guess that's right - I was trying to put my finger on why, though a great watch, it wasn't quite the same level as the cut-and-thrust of the earlier two seasons - I put it down to 'exposition'-itis, needing to take stock of where everyone is. The predictability didn't grate, though, with me - and I liked the way Birgitte's change of tack was suggested by her different responses to the audience question (at two of her Blair-style lectures) 'what would you do if you were PM?' - first parrying it by saying she doesn't ask hypothetical questions, but then actually engaging with the question and giving an answer.

It's still unmissable stuff for me

I thought that Birgitte was taking her lead from John Major following his recent re-entry into UK politics...wonder if he's thinking of starting a new party. I'd pay good money to see that one!

I'm afraid the new party's doomed if it has "New" in the title, a tainted political adjective if ever there was one. I thought the series got off to a slow start, and Kasper was virtually airbrushed out of the opening episodes. What's he doing working on that mind-numbing political discussion programme and why do they have to stand up all the time? Have they all got piles?!

Hmm, a centrist party teams up with a nasty right wing party. Wonder where they got that idea from <grin>.

                          ***Spoiler alert****

Thought the episode about the pigs last night was top notch entertainment and information. The Freedom Party leader Svend Åge Saltum is a frightening caricature really well played by Ole Thestrup - really enjoyed it...and Birgitte exerting her control very interesting indeed.

it is not the story line [yep too predictable] it is all about her innit ....and intelligent political discourse and scandi family values etc come way behind her star quality ...
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.
