The Spanish film director Bigas Luna has died aged 67. Probably best known outside Spain for his 1992 film Jamón Jamón, a very black comedy starring newcomer Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem. Set on the plains of La Mancha, it opens with La Cruz and boyfriend symbolically under one of those Osborne brandy bull hoardings which used to dominate Spanish skylines - a riot of a film, see it on DVD.
