Just finshed the final instalment myself, very good. Impeccable acting, generally very good drama.
And the sidekick, yes I wonder...
Ah! HEA... Happily Ever After..."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

i recorded Jar City but haven't watched ...
and i share the sentiments above about the fat self pitying Wallander, there is only ONE WALLANDER and it is not Branagh either ...

There doesn't appear to be anything else to compete with it at the moment, thriller wise. Seen the 'Wallander' first time round, and as watchable as Brenda Blethyn is as Ann Cleeves' shabby bag lady detective Vera, it's a homespun vehicle for her.
Watched Jar City last night after watching Vera, so it was quite a transformation to go from Northumberland to Iceland; will just say this, it's brutally honest, depressing and made me feel thankful for living in my city! Er, and don't have your supper whilst viewing...'takeway' will never have the same connotation again! p.s. PD Erlendur wears a nicely pattered thick 'fair isle' sweater..and it's on i-player until Wed 18th May (usually longer if downloaded)Last edited by Guest; 10-05-11, 09:02.

...the take away supper is the most gruesome thing that i've ever watched and it catches you completely unawares ... reasonably good movie well worth catching on iPlayer
tonight we are offered Tell No One a rather good French thriller .... 2100 BBC4 [nb the link gives the plot away]According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Calum,
Tell No One Is a good 'un - apart from the lead bloke reminding me of Dustin Hoffman all the time.
And that casual sheep's head takeaway movie moment is now legendary around after seeing 'Jar City' by accident when the film booked at our excellent Stoke Film Theatre
failed to arrive from Hebden Bridge.
Enjoy

I'm sure most are aware, but for those of us who missed out on this first time round, The Killing is being repeated on BBC4 - first Ep was last night, and there is an episode each evening Sunday - Thursday inc. at 10pm. Just about to get into Episode 1..."...the isle is full of noises,

...and some home-grown Northern brilliance to flag up for you: the first of last night's episodes of 'Corrie' was an absolute cracker - it had EVERYTHING, including some wonderful one-liners. An example:
Marcus (to Julie): You need to be proactive
Julie: I'm a woman, not a yoghurt.
Enjoy!

Priceless!! There's some good stuff lately. I'll catch up at the weekend. Last weekend was enlivened by Stephanie Cole in many scenes (e.g. her line upon handing Norris a cup of tea and a custard tart and being told she'd forgotten something: "You ordered a cup of tea and a custard tart. What did you expect, a brass-band and a fly-past?")
Yes, Killing is set to 'record series' on my PVR too. It grabbed one, plus the political link to the killing at the end left one wanting more...

That's reminiscent of her character in 'Waiting For God', I realise
S Cole & Graham Crowden and Janine Duvitzki were superb in that
I think I want to be Stephanie Cole when I grow up
More likely to be Graham Crowden
