I'm posting this link here on the basis that it may be of interest to those people who watched The Killing - and your thoughts and comments on this legendary unsolved case would be most interesting.

If you do follow the link, do read the comments, many of which are as interesting as the piece...

      Just four words:

      I LOVE "THE KILLING" !!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

12 episodes down, 8 to go ...absorbing ...gripping...more red herrings than a left-wing fish market...my only (very minor) gripe is the 'catch-up' at the start of each episode, which - to be fair- might be less irrittating were I not watching nightly.

Same stage as me, Ofca... Well, last night was the first one I watched actually at the broadcast time, all the others have been on PVR record so the 'catch-up' can be easily wound through if not needed - or watched if there's a few days since the last one. Just fantastic story-telling. No 12 last night was the first one without a real cliffhanger (or was it - why did Lund change her mind and have a piece of pizza????) - previous episodes have left me slightly traumatised at having to wait for the next one (the balm of the box set would be the ability to head straight for the next ep... and yet that lingering 'arghhh' feeling is part of the pleasure).

Certainly even better second time around.

BBC4 have landed themselves a major catch with the European crime / thriller genre without American crash bang wallop, slang, car chase and other tired devices to cover appalling writing and acting.

Same stage with me - haven't stuck with something like this for a long long time - I do sometimes get fed up at how stupid the polis are, but hey.... I wasn't so surprised about the pizza tear and share - they've been fancying each other for a while, have they not? - it must be the jumper!

Oh you read it that way did you? I thought it was a sense of predatory self-satisfaction, given the new information she had just received from her side-kick on the phone who had ground down the punch-worthy Rie...

Anyway naughty me - no spoilers !!

Add me to the list of people who are hooked.

I recorded the first week's programs on my PVR and decided I'd better get start watching them as I have 5 recorded. I watched all 5 within 24 hours. Totally griping - though there have been so many false turns that I think it could be almost anyone (assuming only one person was involved). My other dread is coming across any spoilers before it ends.

To add to my Scandinavian 'crime fest' I've been reading a lot of Scandinavian crime fiction over the last few months - currently reading 'The Leopard' by Jo Nesbo. Everything I've read so far has been excellent, and they have all seemed to share the bleakness that is central to the way Denmark is portrayed in The Killing. Maybe it's the long winter nights.

It could be that they spend the long winter night knitting.

Jar City is a book on my Amazon wish list

I missed part of Episode 12, and it's not available on the iPlayer (it's 'an issue which is being investigated')

I nearly stopped watching it this week - episodes 13 and 14 with their arresting and letting go of the troll and then doing it all over etc was utterly ludicrous and had me totally scunnered with it - I only turned up for episode 15 at the last minute but it got back on track and was far more interesting - maybe now we're getting somewhere again.

Only just seen this! Commiserations! Have you managed to see it and the next few yet?

I'm going to have to leave the last 4 for this weekend, due to a busy week. I thought Eps 15 and 16 were terrific
