    Sea Story / John Fletcher

    Interesting play.
Strong writing, very sharp povs, and quite gripping radio.
Did it slightly falter towards the end?

I was tempted by the subject a couple of weeks ago when I read about it. But not enough to listen. Still aching for some serious classic drama but it's been so long I've gone from posting Do3 details every week and listening in order to report to not bothering.

Still not struck by subjects which hinge on events and historical figures rather than an original drama. How did it deal with the events/characters?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I sensed that it was written pretty strongly from an anti-appeasers's pov. BUT the gloss on our own current politics ref Iraq / coalitions / role of press vs politicos / attitudes to Europe / 'the secret state' etc were strong but mercifully un-underlined by campaigning sledgehammer, thus all the more enlightening. Acting of decent standard too.

Certainly worth a bit of a listen, I would have thought.
