Apparently most of the locations are around Bridport, and nearby West Bay:-

They are indeed. Know it well. (I don't know Clevedon, but most of it looks familiar).

Apparently it's done wonders for tourist bookings this year. The paper shop has put up a sign saying "Under New Management", and has kept some of the film prop notices on the door.

The only things you could possibly film at Poundbury would be Trumpton, or perhaps the English remake of The Truman Show.

Good calls, RT - or perhaps one of the spookier episodes of The Avengers with Midwich Cuckoo-type children

Or - I've just thought - an episode of Dr Who which ends in its total destruction.

However this suggests that some scenes were shot in Clevedon (I remember him telling me about Clevedon Old Church - St Andrews, where Tennyson's friend Hallam ("In Memoriam") was buried. He also mentioned something where Doctor Who is being filmed, but I think that's somewhere else nearby.

Poundbury? What does it look like, then? Doesn't sound like Clevedon. Was part of it set in Lyme Regis, or was that something else? They were on about fossils at one time
Mr GG has a nice portfolio of pics of Poundbury that he likes to post on here, every time some reference comes up to Prince Charles's views on modern architecture.

Yes a lot of it was shot in Clevedon, North Somerset. The two houses featured are just down the end of my road and the church is almost next door. FF is right it was St Andrews Church where Hallam is buried. The main road where the newspaper office and the hotel were was Hill Road, the Broadchurch Echo office was a disused book shop and the hotel had once been a Natwest bank.

The moons rays in the last shots came from a big spot lamp on a cherry picker right outside my house!!

Right at the end there was a caption which said Broadchurch will be back!!

Brilliant stuff. I thought Olivia Coleman was absolutely superb in this finale. Heartbreaking.

Totally agreed. A brilliantly constructed, acted, paced and filmed finale. Not a weak link in the acting imo, OC leading the way.

I had it solved last week too, btw, Draco ... I thought the reason convincing, particularly as it sprang from what we knew of poor young Tom and also Danny's dad.

Thank heavens the conclusion wasn't a let-down. I loved the way the "59 days earlier" segment revealed exactly what happened, leaving the fallout to develop in a very raw and elegiac way

The opening scene of Hardy on the beach (such colours! never seen that on TV before) and the closing scene with the beacons lit along the coast, will live long in the memory.

Fascinating. Presumably you were able to follow the filming... When was it? Last summer, I suppose?

As a matter of interest, is the stretch of beach (and the cliffs) nearby in reality?

(V glad of a day off tomorrow allowing a cheeky late night catch up! )

It was filmed last autumn, the last filming being at the end of November.

The film crew were very concerned when I tried to film them on location, I had to promise not to film anything that would give away the storyline.

I believe the stretch of beach (and cliffs) was Bridport, Dorset as was the harbour and newsagents. I don't know where the police station was - it was not Clevedon.

In one scene a young couple jumped on a motor cycle in Clevedon rode off down a very short lane that led to the muddy Bristol Channel only to arrive, minutes later on the beach in Bridport!

Thanks Chapman19! (I bet you had trouble suspending disbelief, no? Did it spoil it having seen the nuts and bolts last autumn?)
