Broadchurch, UK Killing-style TV drama 04 March 2013

Looking for a Killing-style (the makers say) TV serial for Monday nights? .....

A new eight part ITV ensemble drama series, Broadchurch, led by David Tennant, Olivia Colman and Vicky McClure will explore what happens to a small community when it suddenly becomes the focus of a major event and is subjected to the full glare of the media spotlight.

Sounds interesting and it's great to see Olivia Coleman back in a drama

Shame about Tennant though. He shot his bolt in 'Twenty-Twelve' for me, I can't take anything in that voice seriously now.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Except I never could anyway - Tennant's Dr Who finished me with the programme for good.

But I might just have a go at this, having watched episode 1 of Mayday on BBC 1 last night - an all this week five parter in which never could a more laboriously concocted community of dysfunctionals have ever been assembled, even in my neighbourhood - part 2 of which coincides.

I confess to liking David Tennant and was a big fan of his Dr. Who which I much preferred to the present Matt Smith.
I too watched Mayday - glad you thought it was awful as well and I have no inclination to tune in to further episodes. So tonight it's a toss up between Broadchurch and The Flying Scotsman, I'll probably go for the loco and catch the other on itvplayer so there will be less adverts.

Glad my gut feeling about Mayday (and Pollycough) drama was correct, and didn't watch it....Tennant too skinny to be taken seriously <and I'm skinny>....

Skinniness aside I'd side with S_A about DT's Dr Who... couldn't bear it... But I thought, for example, his Hamlet (it was televised) was exceptional.

I'll give this a go, not least for Olivia Coleman, one of the current greats in my book

oOff the shelf from £land I'd expect....bit of isn't she lovely, bit of mangled body, bit of wierdo's, bit of red herring, bit of think you've got it....bit of twist at the end....bit of waste of time....<ahem skinny and skeptical>

Olivia Colman very scarey in Dr Who....

I've never seen her in anything bad, and it seems Rev will be back next year (and I thought Tennant's Hamlet was brilliant) What wasn't filmed on the Dorset coast was filmed in Clevedon, outside of Bristol

I am bemused as to why a skinny actor cannot be taken seriously ..... or do you not take any skinny person seriously?

I am in turn bemused that you take eighthobstruction so seriously, Anna!

Great about the return of Rev, though
