    Black Mirror - Channel 4

The first episode of the second series started last Monday and a deeply unsettling and thought-provoking episode it was too. I just hope that the second series maintains the calibre of this first episode. The initial series was a bit hit and miss.

Absolutely! I thought the first episode was one of the most disturbing and memorable pieces of television I've seen for a long time. The best thing Charlie Brooker has done, I think.

Blimey- just watched the second instalment. My jaw has just about picked itself up off the floor......

I certainly did not see the twist coming. Ingenious.

Charlie Brooker has really excelled himself with this second series. What an invigorating change from the usual predictable wallpaper that makes up so much telly nowadays.

Is it some sort of puzzle?

You would understand if you had watched Black Mirror......

Do you really have nothing better to do? You obviously haven't watched Black Mirror, and yet you're weighing into this thread for no apparent reason other than to have a go.

Why not try and spend your time more constructively?

I found both plays involving, but with Be Right Back I was left a little frustrated - just as it was getting tense, the woman irritated at the android's lack of real presence or identity, then losing her nerve trying to destroy it when it seemed to show real fear.... and a quick 10-years-later FF to keeping it in the attic for.... her daughter's sake...? I'm all for elisions and open ends but this was wound up a little too fast.

With White Bear, I did begin to wonder in the forest scene if this was some kind of vicious game show, but didn't guess the actual denouement. For all the Groundhog Day etc. echoes it was close enough to our own instantmobilecomms, constantwitterjudging world to be really scary. And what a use for all those 4G smartphones!
Last BM play with the hustings cartoon bear looks more promising still.

Mr.P - sorry but I don't get the Black Mirror/paving stones link... didn't see the first series though.
