Oh dear, a certain hornplayer will not be pleased. I will say no more.

A change in name, but not in substance, judging by the odd glance at their schedule should my Radio Times fall open at the "Sky" page...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

"Sky promise to deliver high-quality, exclusive content to customers ... "

A new definition of 'exclusive': excluding everybody other than Rieu, it seems ...

I'll defend Sky Arts to anyone.

And this is how they repay me.

          This.

They are hard up for new customers, judging by the number of circulars and letters I receive. The road is all ready they say - well I am quite happy with what Ihave, thanks for nothing.

Yup. I'm with you. The flak I've put up with on here over the last year or so for championing Sky Arts, and then they go and do this.

I really shouldn't rejoice in the down-fall of others, so I'll just give a modest

"The channel rebrand comes off the back of André Rieu’s most successful year ever. He won a Classic Brit Award for his album And The Waltz Goes On and performed a record-breaking 30 sold-out concerts in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He reached the number one position in Pollstar’s Box Office Chart of highest-grossing tours, outselling the likes of Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Coldplay, Celine Dion and Pearl Jam.

With his natural charisma and the help of The Johann Strauss Orchestra, André creates a colourful and celebratory atmosphere at each of his concerts...
                    "

And until today I had never even heard of him!

What! And him top of the Specialist Charts for weeks on end, and thus played weekly on In Tune?

Actually, I think the danger of this kind of answer to the Beethoven Experience - clearing the schedules - is that it tells millions of people that this is what 'classical music' is all about - so how come R3 is so boring ...? It plays the wrong kind of stuff.

Incidentally, are there signs that R3 is buying in to the opinion that all 'orchestral music' = classical music?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
