She must give her name to a new medical condition, Lund's Syndrome, a compulsive desire to enter dark ruined places likely to contain dangerous criminals on one's own.

Though not as good as the first series, it's still excellent. And it shows that the traditional way of telling a story, starting at the beginning and going on until the end (without flashbacks or jumping about in time as is common these days) is still as compelling as anything.

Ah! You saw Part One of The Poison Tree as well!

Absolutely agree about Sophie Grabol's superb acting: the slightest stiffening of her shoulders communicates more emotional intensity than the histrionics of so many other performers.

"I'm a witch", she told him.
          "How do you know?"
          "Pullover!"

She had cast the magic spell!

Verdict? Bit heart in the mouth stuff, expecting Lund to be bumped off.
Awful depiction of politicians of course. However, not up to standard of other series, imo.
Edit: You've all got your little green lights on - was I the only one to stay up and watch it?
Off to bed now I think.

No; I watched it - feeling a little disappointed with the very end at the moment: as if the scriptwriters had a set of options and took a vote. Shall ponder overnight and join in the discussions tomorrow.

Count me out of the 'dabs' group - I recorded it and then after a coffee or two and once other commitments were fulfilled, started to watch around midnight. It's good night viewing! Now finished. I agree with your #80 and ferney's #81, an odd ending - not the big twist-reveal at the end of 2 nor yet the cathartic conclusion I remember to 1.

I watched the last two parts this evening, and must confess to feeling a little disappointed at the ending.

I have some theories, but I'm not sure how much I can explain without providing spoilers for the people who haven't watched it yet.

I suppose I was a little disappointed too - perhaps because so much had been made of 'terminal' nature of the ending we were led by programme publicity to expect. So I think the disappointment was the fault of the wretched programme publicists, rather than of the series itself. Don't want to reveal too much but the ambiguous, compromised ending of the political story was convincing, and the fate of Sarah L seemed to me to have much of the mythical feel of key aspects the series as a whole... Rather agonising, given that at home, suddenly everything had come good.

An intellectually satisfying, and emotionally engaging conclusion - if not a huge adrenaline-powered catharsis.
