    oh dear

An elderly parishioner stuns Spanish cultural officials with an alarming do-it-yourself attempt to restore a prized fresco of Jesus Christ.

Me neither, but then I wouldn't try. (Don't you wish you could turn this: upside-down?)

"Next week she will meet with a repairer and explain what kind of materials she used."

If it was emulsion it hopefully won't be too difficult to remove.

I could do that, but suggest instead. I'm not keen on the "Like" "Dislike" idea
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Quite mild, by the standards of some contemporary art competitions!
Perhaps if our artist had been 40 years younger she would have won a prize.

Thank you for dignifying my (very peripheral) comment with a reply. You are of course quite right.

A sad story. She meant well and must be very disappointed. I do like frescos and admire the way professionals restore them.

One of our local restored 'frescos', as much admire by Sir John Betjeman:
