    Onslow est mort

Sad news that Geoffrey Hughes aka Onslow/Twiggy/Eddie Yeats/Vernon Scripps has died as a result of prostate cancer, aged 68.

He was a lovely character actor.

Yes, it was quite hard to believe that he wasn't like Onslow, he got into the part so well. Keeping Up Appearances is all I've seen him in but he was part of a great team in that.

    RIP

For a moment I thought you were telling us that Georges Onslow (b.1784) had died. Pheee-ooow!
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

From what I remember of seeing him in Keeping up .. & The Royle Family he seemed much younger than 68. But even 68 is young to die of prostate cancer.

The fallibility and humour of his characters will be missed.

I grew up with Geoffrey Hughes as the lodger of Stan and Hilda Ogden at 13 Coronation Street in the 70s: Eddie Yeats was a lovable rogue, and I adored him to bits and pieces.

              RIP Geoff
