A sad ending for this series of Spiral... with many losses.

Perhaps a bit too early to discuss in detail, to avoid spoilers for those fans who may have to catchup the last two episodes.

I have read that a seventh, and possibly last, series is in production: plenty of threads left for it to pick up.

      .

... so sad, at so many levels.

The Guardian blog, together with its comments, is good ; it contains spoilers -

The killer is captured in a powerful conclusion, but there is abundant trauma for the good guys, with Tintin, Laure and Joséphine all facing a world of pain

Some superb acting (as usual) in last night’s episode.

Series 7 is due to be broadcast in France at the end of this year, or early next. Part of me wants this drama to go on forever, but I would prefer the next series to be the last. As Detectorists showed, it’s better to go out on a high than to peter out.

            ....in fact spoiler upon spoiler....

....I would like to see the actor who plays Laure walk her natural walk. That flat footed, on heels, toes out method of Laure seemed to get more and more forlorn and tired....

After the almost total disintegration of the team, you wonder how on earth they can put the whole thing even partially together.
Illness, resignations, self-disgust, changes of partners both pro and domestic etc etc.

The complexity and insight of this series make it one of the most superb police dramas I have ever seen. I am absolutely hooked by the fizzing scripts, performances, and production - by far the most engaging ( ) drama currently on TV.
Me too - I've been particularly hooked this season, and have already finished gobbling it up, whereas last year it seemed more of an effort to catch up with it on the recorder. Can't imagine what the writers will have come up with for Season 7 - they have so many ends to tie up, still.

I noticed last night that Spiral was on BBC4, episodes 3 & 4; went to iPlayer [?] to see episode 1..... Huge disappointment when I realised I was watching the previous series (6).

Any news to the next series?

Was 'puffed' a week or so ago, and in some delight I rather expected it last Sat night, but no....so, we live in hope. Sorry, can't help any further.
Canal+ are calling it 'KIlling Times'. and much PR work is afloat around it. I think it is already on or close to being on French TV.

Thanks Draco. I assume, too, that repeating series 6 is part of trying to add to the audience for the next series.

Yes. Next 'Spiral' is Series 7 - apparently.

7th season coming up already! This is why I don't generally allow myself to watch TV series - they're constructed so as to keep you wanting more, and then before you know it you've spent an accumulated total of the equivalent of a week of your life just being strung along by an endlessly self-renewing plot, even when it gets tired and threadbare. I thought the first series was original, and viscerally gripping, and full of insights into the French legal/class system, but after that I thought: time to move on...

Ah, but I don't think BBC has run more than 3 of them, has it?
Did you feel the same about 'Line of Duty'?

I wouldn't know how many the BBC has run... and I've never seen Line of Duty!
