I intend to watch Ep. 4 this evening....

I stopped reading your post at the above point! But I'm braced for disappointment...

I seem to find the suspension of disbelief reasonably easy, if the context is agreeable.... a very useful attribute when perusing the R3 Forum, for example!

I started Ep 1 thinking "uh oh, this is silly" ... but thereafter, like ferney, the way it was done kept me interested - in the three episodes I've watched so far, at any rate...

....Ref @'suspension of disbelief'....do you spend the whole episode with your eyebrows raised or do you raise them, and then use tape....

Watching Witnesses on catch-up with appropriately suspended disbelief.

Notice a slang word for bloke being used by the cop and others: sounds like meque. New to me. Anyone know it?

Interesting to see Audrey Fleurie in such a different role from her barrister in Spiral; though, as she recovers from her semi-catatonic state, her acting drifts towards her Maitre style.

Putain is another word you’ll come across quite a bit.

I have Witnesses recorded but unwatched, I’ll have to rectify that before the 30th.

I watched the whole thing (in post-viral semi-catatonia) and enjoyed my immersion in the French atmosphere, language and so on. I'm unsure whether I understood the 'plot', or indeed whether expending extra effort on fully understanding it would have been worthwhile. The developing relationship (and mirroring) between the two lead women worked well, in a kind of Thelma and Louise way. Unfolding absurdities brought about a festive urge to shout at the tv from time to time.

Yes, the two central women were very, very good indeed, but the plot juddered and jumped under them a bit.

                        Spiral:

                        BBC 4 2100 - 2300 tonight Saturday 30th: first two episodes.

                        Voila.

TiVo set up to record the series. Looking forward to watching it.

Yes, Witnesses became increasingly absurd, but the atmos, landscapes and those two excellent performances made it worth the watch.

Spiral from tonight a much better proposition.

I didn't remember that Laure was pregnant at the end of the last series. Did we know?

Struck by how they're all ageing...! The plotting and intrigues up to previous form. I wonder if M le Juge Roban is about to be writtin out....?

An enjoyable couple of hours - albeit quite dark.
