    Burtynsky:Oil at new Photographers' Gallery

I went to this free exhibition at the newly-opened Photographers' Gallery in London's West End yesterday. It's a stunning new building and a very moving exhibition about humankind's lust for oil, for the purposes to which it puts oil and depends on it and how this all amounts to abuse of the planet and of our environment, on a scale that I had not realised and which I could not have imagined. A visiting Martyian would be truly boggled, I imagine.

There's an interesting series of lectures to accompany the exhibition.
