I've really enjoyed Endeavour so far ......... so not sure if I like the sound of this, even if it is only for one episode.

The new series starts tonight - and much evidence of filming in Oxford in recent weeks, so another is on the way. Good news!

Says in today's Times that there's to be another series of Lewis - perhaps that's what the filming's about? Though presumably without Hathaway unless he's changed his mind after the end of the last series. The trouble with Endeavour is that they can't use Oxford in quite the same way as it's changed so much - as Andrew Billen says they can't show street level. Lewis and Hathaway could always have a latté at a pavement café in the Broad...scope for nostalgia limited, I was hoping for 1960s Oxford

The plot took some keeping up with I thought. Haven't they rather overdone missing girls?

I think he has changed his mind.

A shame about the timings, I think. I'd prefer the 2 hour format, but I suppose they are thinking of younger viewers with the attention span challenges involved with that age group.

Or perhaps targeted Radio 3 listeners.

A bit of a cliffhanger - but at least it should mean we're getting another series. As more than one TV critic has lamented, why can't we have decent-length runs of drama series as they do on American TV?

Memory plays tricks but this is supposed to be 1966, when I first saw Oxford - the settings look more early 60s to me. The university backdrops a bit of a token gesture, unlike in Morse and Lewis where the stories are able to inhabit the Oxford of the day.....

I do find the poorly lit dark scenes which seem to inhabit the whole programme, along with the gruff sound especially from the older cop all a bit of a turn off. Not very good production values in my opinion.

Yes, it's been getting rapidly less pretty as the series progressed.

As to authenticity - the penultimate episode irritated because everyone was wearing modern poppies.

And they talked about pantyhose which nobody in this country has ever done.

I liked it very much, and I was able follow the plots of this and last week's episodes as well. Some progress.
I love the dark(ish) scenes, as crime is dark anyway.
The older cop's articulation however is in for some improvement. But with this cliffhanger, will he return????

Reminds me inescapably of an exchange in the Private Eye spoof of "Je t'aime...moi non plus", circa 1969, in which, er, tights are mentioned.....

I know nothing about ladies underwear (oops, I've said "ladies" again) so I would not know what they were on about. I used to like stockings which had that tantalising gap between the suspenders and the er, top. But I must not talk about ladies - young or old. Take a hundred lines, "You must not discuss such things, especially as you are an old man."

I'm not sure how much I enjoyed that episode - the cliff hanger was a bit corny. (In my view).

I have enjoyed this series immensely. As I did the first and am hoping for a 3rd series. A really well done production.

I've just watched it again as we recorded it. Better second time around, and I enjoyed it more. It made a bit more sense.
