    Just caught up and I agree, a very good 90 minutes.

    I was very struck with the performance of an actor I'd never been aware of before, Craig Parkinson, playing the splendidly-named shopsteward Reg Tracepurcel - faultless, underplayed stuff, really 'of the period' (helped by the v good work by the makeup and costume people).

      The 'Endeavour' stories are one box set I may buy when they become available as I loved 'Morse', have them all but somehow have missed 'Endeavour'.

        (No spoilers here ) - Good final episode also. This seems to be the first time Keble College has been used as a backdrop. No birdsong this time - a darker, more indoor sort of episode. I didn't notice any opera either....

        It is supposedly set in 1965, but somehow has an earlier feel about it. The Oxford of the late '60s that I remember, post-Beatles, Vietnam War protests in full swing, etc., seems far in the future.

        PS agree about Craig Parkinson - a note-perfect part. He seems to have been in all sorts of things before, but nothing I've seen either!

            That's a very generous programme! I've just watched the last episode on the ITV Player, and wasn't quite sure what to make of the 'OK Corral meets High Noon' sequence in the nightclub. But overall, as others have said, a series well worth watching and better than 'Lewis'.

                  Probably a heretical view, but I warmed to Lewis (the series) not least because of the dynamic between the two leads. Morse and Lewis made for two rather turgid characters, IMV. I always felt Jack Reagan in The Sweeney was closer to Thaw's acting comfort zone.

                  Anyway - here's hoping there is another series of Endeavour!

                        I've had enough of Nordic Noir C&R, let's have Endeavour forever. This my comfort zone, being Tardised back to 60s I remember so well, decent scripts and convincing lead roles. I enjoyed every minute of the last four programmes.

                            Good news for all Endeavour enthusiasts. I stumbled across filming for the next series in Oxford this morning. It was obvious that something was afoot, judging from the film unit's vans taking over most of the outdoor part of the Westgate Carpark (again!!). The actual filming this morning was in Brasenose Lane, a tiny road, but, as usual in these programmes, elevated to a major thoroughfare for the purposes of the programme. Endeavour was there, solemn as ever and surprisingly minuscule - and PC (later Chief Super) Strange was inches away from me. As usual, the stars of the scene appeared to be the period vehicles: a lovely cream-coloured ambulance, a light blue Austin 1100 police car and another car with a body on the roof (my guess is a leap from a nearby window.)
