Utter tosh, a real insult to Colin Dexter’s memory.

I'm glad we decided not to bother.

The final one was a slight cut above the previous two, except the absurd Venetian conclusion and the theme of the creepy Italian consipiring to make window-cleaners &c. fall off their ladders the length and breadth of England

However Anton Lesser transcended the whole thing, a couple of his scenes heartbreakingly brilliant.

After all he can also make a series about a private detective in Ancient Rome compelling and amusing (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00...pisodes/player ) ... The man can do anything and I would watch and/or listen
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I have yet to see the last episode. Number 2 was pretty dire - as was the Agatha Christie thing we also finished off tonight.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the titles and ideally performers of the music in this series ? Google has drawn a blank.

              TIA

Watched ep 1 last night . To (mis?) quote a greater dramatist “ what a sad falling-off was there.” The great Roger Allam has understandably gone into sleep walk mode ...

I recently bought a box set of 4 episodes of 'Rebus' in a charity shop. I've watched 2 already, and the experience has confirmed my view that 'Endeavour' has definitely lost the plot.
There's something about certain Scottish dramas - 'The Crow Road', 'Guilt', 'Takin' Over The Asylum','Tutti Frutti' and even 'Hamish Macbeth' simply got on with telling basically simple stories without dragging in tiresome and irrelevant 'issues' which more often than not detracted from the essential characterizations and storyline.

A new series has begun. I was disappointed in the first episode - too many characters were just caricatures of stereotypes; no real feel of time and place; and what is Chief Superintendent Bright doing with his hair over his collar?

I scored and recorded the music for one series of Rebus, but never watched the complete films! So, bought the DVD set the other day and will watch with interest.

How about Cracker? Did similar for one series of that. Brilliant series. ITV should repeat it.

I came across a Rebus with John Hanna in progress on a freeview channel late evening - very engaging. I then looked up the series and see the first period featured John Hanna, who hadn't wanted to act but produce the show. The Wickipedia page (probably Wicki..) related how after the initial series, Hanna relinquished involvement because the commissioner favoured shorter programmes, and more superficial plots etc.

I might look out more - certainly of the Hanna episodes. I've not read the books (in fact I rarely read non-fiction books of any nature.....).
