I thought it was exciting, tense, nailbiting, touching (yet again) but I have one big reservation about how the series is going and that is Mycroft assuming a Mr. Big character. That, I think, would be a mistake.
What does anyone know about the Holmes brother who died? Is Moriarty back or was that engineered by SH/Mikey. We finally know who Red Beard is.
Oh well, only a year to wait until some more intelligent telly ....

I hope you're right with "a year". I get the impression it might be longer. I enjoyed Sunday's programme, probably most of all three.

The third brother seems to have been invented by Moffat/Gatiss. From memory, there is no reference to any other siblings in the books.

There was one serious problem with Magnusson's mind palace power . As Watson said - hence with no documents he had no proof - it is far from true that he can publish without proof as justification for libel has to be proved by the publisher .

I suspect that in fact he had those documents elsewhere - hence why did he still have Lord Smallwood's letters unless they were fake ?

My sister reminds me that Sherlock Holmes retired to the village of East Dean in Sussex, where we spent many of our childhood summer holidays. She kindly sent me these photos of his cottage:

For me, one of the great things about the previous episodes is that you can watch them often and find new things and I expect the same of last evening's episode. One other point is that I do think that Mark Gatiss makes a really terrific Mycroft.

I prefer Conan Doyle's Mycroft, brilliant but to lazy and fat to get out of a chair.
