I do; watching Watson walk away. (This is the ending to which I referred in #58.)

Andrew Scott was terrific as Jim Moriarty - really scary. The scene in the journalist's flat where he is being the actor (forgotten his name) who says he was employed by Holmes to do all these things was just brilliant. It'll be interesting to see if his death has also been faked. Merited a second viewing - great performances all round.

                Sherlock: 1.1.14 (BBC1)

                Simply brilliant.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I am a bit tired so that may explain why I am just slightly disappointed . Did not quite live up to the hype .

I enjoyed it, but didn't understand it all. First question - if Sherlock jumped onto an air-cushion, where did the bungee jump fit in? Second question - what happened to Lord Moran?

I can't help thinking that anyone seeing a tube train at St James's Park station should have got a little suspicious!

The bungee jump was another of Donovan's theories that had been in the minisode on iplayer.

Lord Moran was in the seventh carriage that was diverted and laid the bomb -he was then later spotted some time later emerging from Westminster station suggesting he had also emerged by walking along the line at night - well that is what i thought was intended .

Dear me, it seems that I understood less than I thought. Who is Donovan? And where does the iplayer come into it? I assumed that by reference to the original, Moran would be apprehended at the end. But it seems not. Or maybe I missed it.

For me, one of the great things about the previous episodes is that you can watch them often and find new things and I expect the same of last evening's episode. One other point is that I do think that Mark Gatiss makes a really terrific Mycroft.

Donovan was the bearded chap from the very start of the programme who ran the group of enthusiasts who all had their own idea of what happened to Sherlock. We haven't yet been told the real story - I have a feeling that this is going to be a series "teaser". The Empty Hearse wasn't based on The Empty House in the way that the previous series have had parallels to the ACD originals - but the Lord Moran equivalent was arrested coming out of his hotel room about ten minutes from the end.

I enjoyed it greatly, but, like Barbie, feel just a teensy-bit disappointed: maybe the post-hogmanay fug, but I felt they were being just a leetle too clever by half: I'll watch again on i-Player.

                                .
Pay attention at the back! The bearded chap was Anderson, the Scene of Crime Officer who had consistently alleged that Sherlock's expertise was false, and was responsible for convincing LeStrade of the same. As Sherlock has subsequently been vindicated, Anderson has presumably been suspended, or dismissed, which is why his appearance has deteriorated. Sally Donovan was LeStrade's sergeant (and Anderson's girlfriend, according to Sherlock back in Episode 1).
