salymap, I will try to get the Cecil Court painting photographed tomorrow and put on my troovi site. It is of several shops in a late evening light with people hurrying in the rain. I am rather busy redecorating my house ATM as it is much too tiny to cope with my paintings and I want to move to something bigger. I cannot continue using the living room as a studio so a lot of household paint is flying at the moment rather than acrylics.

As a break from painting walls I have tried my hand at water-based oil painting to make a change from acrylics. I have done a view of Salisbury Cathedral from the Harnham Water Meadows. In a couple of weeks I hope to join local artists in making paintings as a tribute to John Constable in Salisbury, subject of a super new exhibition at Salisbury Museum and thought I might try oils.
I am quite pleased with my first attempt and I understood that water-based oil is quick drying (rather like slow drying acrylic was how someone described it). After two days it is still very tacky. How long should I be patient for?

I have no experience of water based oils Chris but here is some info on drying times from the Winsor & Newton site.http://www.winsornewton.com/products...ur/#dryingtime

Good stuff Chris. How did you get Tom to lie on his side to get his portrait painted?!!
I've not been able to do much this year as my wife is poorly.

Hi Iain,
I am so sorry to hear that your wife is unwell and hope she recovers quickly. I must put those two "sideways" pictures on again the right way up (or down). Thank you for the earlier advice about the oils. I found a quick drying agent but it makes everything go very glossy and transparent: it's great for water painting though. Patience is the thing.
bws
Chris.
