This is a four-strong professional theatre company that cycles from venue to venue carrying all its (minimal) props and costomes on their bikes. Their production of Twelfth Night last night was mind-blowing in its humour, its slickness and indeed its musical content. (One member of the team was a competent mandolin player and they all sang.) There was even more cross-dressing and gender swapping than usual in Shakespeare. Without departing from the script, the players swept the audience along with fast-paced, virtuosic hilarity. If they happen to ride into your area, do go and see them!

Are there only four of them performing? They'll be quite close to me tomorrow night. Unfortunately, with no car, no convenient public transport and no realistic possibility of cycling there - even if I had a bike - I'll have to give it a miss. [A bit sad as I made a donation to the National Trust appeal to buy the property just about 20 years ago and was given a complimentary ticket to a pre-opening guided tour. I gave the ticket to my cousin (she always likes to be first to do things ) and I've never had an opportunity to see it myself.]It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
