Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Review here....in the "so bad its good" category perhaps......
This hilariously OTT French thriller makes previous classical music dramas such as Un Coeur en Hiver seem sensible, via rampant misogyny, a secret affair and a potential murder
They should have watched & learnt from Cherie Lunghi in The Manageress.....remember that...? 1989-90 on....C4. Classic way ahead of its time.
Anyway Killing Eve has really come to life again. Brilliant eps 6 & 7. Got the finale lined up for later....Last edited by jayne lee wilson; 01-06-20, 20:24.

Will we watch it again, just to check that the second episode is also bad? Probably!

I thought it was ok and the conductor vs orchestra theme rang true . Interesting to see the new Paris concert Hall with its luxurious backstage facilties. Yes the conducting was terribly unconvincing - absolutely no beat but the actors could in some cases obviously play their instruments.I reckon I could just about conduct the Pastoral from memory if forced to (if I knew how to conduct convincingly).

We (family with returned children for Lockdown) enjoyed this Spanish film:
On the eve of leaving Madrid for Portugal with her partner Lorenzo, Julieta has a chance encounter with a childhood friend of her daughter. This forces her to confront the past as she begins a journal to her estranged grown-up daughter who cut contact 12 years previously.
12 days left to watch.

Thanks for the suggestion of the Spanish film - we might try. Re Philharmonia - I think we enjoyed it in the end, though the "big question" was never answered - perhaps to set up for another series, or perhaps just to leave us all to make our own conclusions.
Re the Norwegian State of Happiness (BBC) - that was OK - and I learnt a bit more about Norway as a result, though I wasn't totally convinced about it as a series. I didn't realise how poor and seemingly backward Norway was before the oil boom.
In particular I learnt more about a former PM - Per Borten, including this
His down-to-earth nature had been strongly underlined in 1969, when newspaper Dagbladet interviewed him at his farm while he was prime minister. He did the interview wearing nothing but a pair of shoes, a hat and trunks, only days before Queen Elizabeth II was invited to the same farm on a state visit to Norway. The picture of Borten in his underwear went around the world, and the British newspaper Daily Mirror printed the picture over two pages with the headline:
Now the Norwegian Prime Minister is ready to receive the Queen.
