Perhaps the next programme was more interesting!

At least the snooker game was still in progress. It really annoys me when I am waiting for a scheduled programme, the football (or whatever) match is already over, but they insist on carrying on with all the post-match claptrap, despite overrunning.

That always irritates me as well. The match finished 30 minutes ago, but they still can't finish on time, and even though the chat has run over, they still have to show the highlights of the match again set to music, and then their end credits, and then adverts for future programmes, so a five minute overrun, turns into ten or more minutes before the next programme can start. I suppose Lineker et al are all paid too much to take heed of a lowly producer telling them they have 10 seconds to finish.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

And why is Lineker sporting a moustache that wouldn't have been out of place in 1930s Germany?

As regards that particular country, and as Lineker will understand, maybe it is a case of " If you can't beat them......"

It's probably written into their commentatorly contracts that they have to do post mortems.

Well they could do the post mortem, but just not broadcast it!
