The Lewis Chessmen are in the news again today. When was it that the late gamba introduced them to us with his imaginative photograph - remember the Weeping Queen? Perhaps the thread could be resurrected?

They were one of the subjects of Neil MacGregor's History of the World in 100 Objects. Here's the episode, with pictures which let you have a closer look at the pieces. They are magnificent pieces.
