If you treat it as a Sunday-night political thriller, rather than a dramatized documentary, it works very well. Give it a go!

I've not watched Doctor Who in years and years, though I saw some clips of the last Christmas episode where they seemed to be mocking William Hartnell - that's right, not the First Doctor but the reactionary person William Hartnell was purported to be (and, in fairness, probably was). I thought this was not really on, considering the huge debt the franchise still owes him and the fact that he's not around to defend himself.

They showed him expecting the Doctor's current companion to clean the TARDIS and prepare coffee, and depicted him as being shocked by her lesbianism. The First Doctor was not especially sexist (the 2nd and 3rd Doctors were actually much worse in that respect) and never gave his opinions on human sexuality. Nor, I believe, did Hartnell but the programme-makers seems to be extrapolating a range of reactionary opinions from him based on his much-vaunted 'old-fashioned attitude to race.' Not really on!
