Bit of a 'marking time' episode, I thought.

I wouldn't necessarily count on Julia being dead.

It looked like Budd was shot (with blanks?) by an infiltrator after his failed suicide attempt (if that's what it was and not just a performance for the hidden cameras).

So, Tahir would seem to be in the clear but the H.O. crowd are a bit too obviously guilty.

Yes, I'm sure several endings will have been filmed and that a lot of stuff was cut. But probably a lot less than for the recent A Very British Scandal in which Patricia Hodge's performance barely figured.

No-one else online seems to have picked up on the bit about Budd being shot by a third party. Or did I just imagine that bit?

Mind you, the way this glorious tosh has been going, it wouldn't astonish me to discover in a later episode that somebody did break into Budd's flat a few minutes after he'd not shot himself with the specific purpose of firing a blank at his head!

Mind you, at school, in the Cadets, someone did fire a blank at his boot to see what happened (.303 Lee Enfield rifle) and blew not only his boot but very nearly his foot off - I imagine the effect of even a pistol blank round at zero range would have caused more damage than that. I hope Jed M checked out the ballistics.

It looked to me as though the 'blank shot' didn't come from his gun in his own hand - but it was milliseconds of a frame or three, so deliberately teasing.
