Apparently it's a character called William Conker...

Let's just hope nobody tries serving their Brussels with Horse Chestnuts as a result of viewing the ad.

I won't be hasting along to Aldi to check out their merchandise, though.

The Sixth Commandment BBC (4 episodes; on iPlayer)
A tough watch: a drama based on a true story. Timothy Spall kind of chews the scenery up in Ep 1, by the end of which his character is dead. If you're a shy, retired teacher of English who is not out, maybe you should give this a miss....

Odd that Lidl 's Christmas ad seems to be based in the US.

Yes, I was thinking that the other day - thanks for reminding me! They could at least have shown grey squirrels in place or raccoons!

Especially given the reimposition of political censorship here, may I recommend watching at least some of the reports offered on current events as shown on Al Jazeera.

The whole BBC Shakespeare celebration is a delight. I'm in danger of running out of disc space, saving it.

Somewhat overshadowed by the WS celebrations, BBC4 devoted some time to Dylan Thomas 70 years after his death, last night showing again the 2014 TV production of Under Milk Wood, put together across five locations. I missed it first time round and enjoyed it as much as the cast plainly did. I still listen to the 1953 broadcast with the - to my mind- incomparable cast led by Richard Burton.

Yes, an excellent documentary, which I too missed first time around. At first I didn't think the reverse chronology format was going to work, but it did.

Agreed - though I which some one at the current Beeb had the ambition of Cedric Messina to do some new BBC originated Shakespeare rather than just buying in.
