Putin, Russia and the West:
How Russia has been resurrected by Vladimir Putin
This has been an excellent series. Lots of insights into the recent history of strategy and diplomacy. A timely reminder that while Putin has been consistently influential since 2000 it was the George Osborne lookalike Medvedev who was the Russian President after 2008. There are some fairly strong political women on the American side. Mr Trump's alter decorum, Nikki Haley, isn't the utterly dogmatic or merely steadfast first. This contrasts with the reduction in quality in Britain typified by the stereotypically modern Alison McGovern's complete failure to locate a portrait of that working man's champion, the great Ellen Wilkinson, for Parliament's gallery. And when any notions of personal political preferences are cast aside in favour of identifying people of substance, it would be hard not to mention how the United States isn't really a meritocracy when it never made the multi-talented Condoleezza Rice its President.
