On the BBC Arts Website, 'Jailhouse rock: Behind-the-scenes photos of Johnny Cash's classic prison shows'; the photos by Jim Marshall. Interesting article and terrific images, I thought.
Great photographs. I remember the albums coming out. The Glen Sherley story ended sadly, some 10 years later.....
A group of us did a concert in Exeter prison in 1971, when I was doing my PGCE year - we'd put together a mainly vocal concert which we were touring round (mostly) schools. The girls in the group, fashionably dressed for the time, found it an interesting experience. I did a solo guitar spot (Jeux Interdits, aka Spanish Romance ), prompting a few catcalls of "Johnny Cash" as I came on - I'm sure the reality was a disappointment to them, but we all survived.
