I remember liking I Didn't Know You Cared in the seventies but can't remember much about it.

The rather grand (in real life) Robin Bailey was superb as Uncle Mort. And Anita Carey made an impression as the dreadful (but very attractive) 'aspirational' wife of the son of the family (Carter). 'Not what a young excecutive would wear', she wouls say, passim.

And then there was Uncle Stavely. 'I heard that! Pardon?'

It's on youtube. I might take a look.

But I'd rather watch Magic Roundaout, Mary Mungo and Midge, Crystal Tipps and Alistair and Hector's House over quite a few of the others listed!

Aren't they mainly for younger people?

So why include "Arthur Strong" who seems to be a fourth rate Shuttleworth impersonator?

              What a dismal parade

Because Arthur Strong isn't a dog.

Agreed! but the (original) Clangers are the best IMO

I'm also a fan of 'I Didn't Know You Cared'.
Quite right. Memory lapse on my part. I knew the disappointing Series 3 was not on the same channel and forgot about the ads. in the middle*. In recent years I have only watched via the boxed set of DVDs. When first viewed I thought of it as very influenced by Susan Harris's Soap from across The Pond.

                    * Should have Googles, or got the boxed set off the shelf.

It might only show in Scotland but 'Still Game' has been a great sitcom over the years, Lat. The tales of Jack and Victor, two lifelong friends who live in a high rise on a council scheme in Glasgow and their associated croneys. Jack and Victor emerged from Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill's excellent sketch show 'Chewing the Fat', which again probably only showed in Scotland. Anyway here's a selection of clips from 'Still Game'.

A new series arrives on our screens this next week.

                          Thanks, JC.

That wasn't too bad at all.

Apparently, selected episodes were shown on BBC2 but I don't recall seeing the programme.

In fact, I've realised there are a lot of sitcoms I'd never seen or had forgotten. Since my earlier posts, I have now also considered Life With The Lyons, Nearest and Dearest, Up Pompeii, The Squirrels. My Wife Next Door, No Problem, Only When I Laugh, Hot Metal, Nightingales, Kiss Me Kate, Barbara, Early Doors, Him and Her, 15 Storeys High, Perfect World, My Hero, Green Wing, Hebburn, Chambers, The Inbetweeners, Absolute Power, Bad Education, Bromwell High, SunTrap, Friday Night Dinner and Derry Girls. I've not yet seen episodes of Mum.

Not sure whether any of these would make it into a revised Top 100.

The most likely contenders are probably Early Doors, My Hero and Hot Metal and in that order but all are a bit borderline.

I am going to stick my neck out here.

Now we are four episodes into "Hold the Sunset", I reckon it is very good indeed and almost outstanding.

So everyone else in the world disagrees.

They are just a bunch of moaning minnies.

By chance, tonight I fell upon an episode of "Derry Girls" on Channel 4. I had, of course, heard of this series and quite liked the concept. However, until tonight I had not actually watched an episode. I'm hooked. It is set in an era I very much recognise. I only visited Derry the once, in the early 1980s. I was the guest of politically 'unaligned' Irish nationalists. The characters in this sitcom are a wonderful reflection of some I stayed with and made good, if all-to-brief, friendships with. Looks like I will be watching from Episode 1 via the Internet.

There are 23 episodes available on iPlayer. I shall investigate!
(Should it be repeated on BBC Scotland, users of Freesat, and presumably other platforms, will be able to watch).
