    Netflix

given Netflix as a present and find that floggong through their library can be tedious; however i watched an oldie but goodie last night 'Gorky Park'; i have found Amazon Prime to be as dispiriting

if any one has found good movies on either i would love to hear aabout them

the Cruz Smith Renko novels are a marvellous take on the second half of the 20th Century ...

Netflix is much more user-friendly than Prime, I find. I agree, the films are bof-bof (although Netflix has the highly rated Dallas Buyers' Club which I mean to see).

My attachment to Netflix is chiefly for the TV series - Breaking Bad and its new legal offshoot Better Call Saul (launched last week, Ep. 3 awaiting a viewing this weekend at Caliban Towers), House of Cards (both the original Ian Richardson classic, plus the dazzling Kevin Spacey 'remake' - all 3 series), lots of old BBC classics like Blackadder, League of Gentlemen etc., ... And where available, in stunning and stutter-free HD picture quality.

      ah me fingers.....

found Call Saul unwatchable in its flat misery and mall realism ... no grace nor wit [i was grumpy last night]

Dallas Buyers Club is wonderful who'd have thought he had that performance in him!

agree on the TV series ... i like that old thriller serial set in Washington: The State Within

Interesting we can't get Saul on Netflix and I have to Apple for it...

I cancelled Amazon Prime when they almost doubled the price to try to force people to have the film package included whether or not they wanted it.

(Fish featuring in Jaws springs to mind.)

I've yet to find a film I am looking for on Netflix or Amazon Prime, although the latter at least gives the option of buying, if it is available as a DVD. Plus Prime has Ripper Street!

Ah... never seen that. I shall add it to My List

                Sorry Saul doesn't find favour.

I agree about most of the "content " on these places. But. Am watching Bosch on Prime and enjoying it. YMMV obv.

Are you in the US? It's available on Netflix there from next month. Available in the UK now.

I've just checked, and Episodes 1-3 are available in the UK. Apologies if you are somewhere else.

I complained about the very poor customer service from Amazon re one large item (faulty - ironing board) which I sent back, and asked for compensation since it took a lot of effort to send back, and the return carriage was a lot more than the £3.30 which they tried to fob me off with. They were fairly mingy about it, but I did get another month of a Prime trial. I'm still checking my credit card bills to see if they have refunded the full return carriage amount.

However, we did watch Argo - which was quite good, and I think one other which was so memorable I can't remember it. I started that Amazon "TV" series about the conductor, but gave up after 2 episodes.

As I said earlier it's available in the States next month. It's currently being shown on terrestrial or cable TV over there which is why I assume it's not available at the moment. The same thing happened with Breaking Bad.
