DCMS Committee will question candidate for new Ofcom Chair Lord Burns
The Digital Culture Media and Sport Committee will be holding a pre-appointment hearing for the Government’s preferred candidate for the new Chair of the media regulator Ofcom, Lord Burns. Once approved by the Committee he would replace Dame Patricia Hodgson in January 2018.
MPs will use the opportunity to ask Lord Burns about, amongst other issues, the regulation of the BBC (for which Ofcom recently took responsibility), the Fox/Sky merger, the potential relocation of Channel 4 and the impact of Brexit on the sector.
