Much looking forward to this 80mins documentary on the life of Joe Orton and his significant role in
the culture of London in the Swinging Sixties - 'twas good to be around N1 at the time! I gather his
murder at the hands of his lover Kenneth Halliwell is also re-examined with fresh evidence throwing new light
on the tragedy. Side by side on my bookshelves is John Lahr's biography, Prick Up Your Ears, (1978)
and the essential Orton Diaries, edited by Lahr, (1986). Happy memories, too, of seeing Loot at the
Criterion Theatre, a huge success after it's disastrous touring production folded before reaching
the West End. Entertaining Mr Sloane also scored and it will good to see Antony Sher, Freddie Fox
and Jaime Winstone in excerpts from Orton's work. HD rec now set!
