A truly terrible and unbelievably over-hyped movie! About as scary as a trip to the dentist.

Oh, go on! I, too, am "persevering" with the damn thing in the hope of something interesting happening, and - apart from the "Christie-meets-The Shining" rip-offs becoming more apparent - I missed the "interesting" bit to which you refer! I just wish they'd all get on with it and kill each other off so we can get onto a more interesting series.

( - I presume you mean the "documents"? Yes, an interesting - and important - topic that could have been suggested earlier and turned the series into something meatier - instead, the topic seemed to me to be used gratuitously; just plonked arbitrarily into this dreary plot, to "enliven" a cliché-driven story. )

Looks as though despite protestations, some others are still watching the lake thing - obviously they have to in order to be able to comment for the benefit of others ..... Go on - give it up!

well the way things are going that looks the likely outcome - shades of Agatha Christie "And Then There Were None"

Anyone much the wiser after the climactic massacre of the last two episodes?. Not sure I’m glad I watched it apart from a curiosity to see who would end up alive, and it seemed pretty clear that the principal male would cop it.
Binge watched the second series of Mammon on All4 (Walter Presents) to make up for it all, much more engaging.
What/where was the Black Lake anyway or have I missed something?

I'm just grateful the whole, confused, pretentious thing is over and done with. The basis of a half-decent two-hour plot, stretched to over five hours - seeming as if each episode had been made up on the spot, and ending just because they'd run out of video tape. Made Montalbano seem profound.

The "Black Lake" was what the guy who did the murders twenty years before (remember him? No, not the Nazi doctor guy - he was twenty years before that - the one in Episodes 1 & 2, who managed to escape from the police by the cunning ruse of ... err ... running away) was supposed to have committed suicide by jumping into and drowning. We were told about it by the ex-Police chief - remember him? The one whose colleagues clubbed together to get his old case files as a retirement present.

Personally, I think it was all an enormous advert for Optrex.

                            Aha! Kind of remember that.
My credulity took a knock with the discovery of the cannabis farm, now that really was a goodun’. Maybe not Optrex, they’d all been sneaking down the cellar for a toot and it was the red eye express wot dunnit.

So am I. Yes it's a mash-up of all sorts of things but it's not without its own Scandi-noir charms.

Only seen 4 so far though, so am not reading past your post! But you encourage me to continue!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Possibly. But then they put their clothes back on and the "plot(s)" continue. ("Scanti-noir"?)

BBC1's otherwise nonsensical-but-in-a-sort-of-entertaining-way Rellik took a very shocking/unexpected turn at the very end of last night's penultimate episode: one that suggests that the "gimmicky" back-to-front format is, in fact, essential to the shock. I love it when a show takes me by surprise like this - that's why I stuck with Black Lake. Which didn't.
