    Well FWIW I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your memories, HS - you (and they) speak with great eloquence for themselves, and I reckon the "silence" to be more one of awe than of uninterest.

          HS, your reminiscences are one of two nudges I've had to write a memoir about my career in nature conservation, as there are quite a few good stories there. It won't be appearing on this forum, as it has no relevance (unlike yours), and I won't know until it's finished whether it will see the light of day or go beyond friends and family...m'learned friends may need to cast an eye over one or two episodes....

          So keep 'em coming

          (the other nudge was reading the proofs of a friend's book, out shortly, about his travels in every country in Latin Amerca painting birds...)
